WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE PITCH?

The best idea was the spray attachment from Drenched which saves water, but the pitch let him down.  I offered to help him fix it as he needs to start again.

Congratulations to the panel for letting Wes through to the final round.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN AN ENTREPRENEUR?

  • Someone who’s identified a problem which matters to people.
  • Someone with the drive to turn their idea into a business (passion is nice but can be faked, but drive is essential and can’t)

GIVE US YOUR TOP TIP(S) FOR ANY START-UP

The most important tip is find an important problem preferably one people will pay to have fixed.

After that, the process is fairly straightforward:

  • Build a prototype or mock up.
  • Start talking to the early adopters in your market.
  • Produce a working model taking the market requirements into account.
  • Start selling.
  • Scale up!

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN AN ENTREPRENEUR?

  • Passion – is the person driven to take the product to market?

  • Work it from Vision, Objectives, Strategy, Tactics, and Action plan.
  • A good idea may not be a good business case, it needs to solve a problem.  So do your homework well and find your USP, then test on others and take feedback on board.
  • A commercial entity needs to make money in the end, so figures are very important.  Whatever timescale and cost you project, as it is the new venture, you should always allow for the unforeseen.
  • Get expert advice to reduce error and increase efficiency and speed for route to market.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE PITCH?

Outside of Galaxkey (my officially ‘elevated’ startup), I really enjoyed JumPack’s pitch.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN AN ENTREPRENEUR?

The appetite to solve problems that initially seem impossibly large, that in hindsight will seem almost inevitable – with the ability to tackle it in strategic stages. There are enough on-demand toothbrush delivery apps!

Growth-hack your way to at least one ‘connector’ (rather than influencer) in your industry. The former will ease your path to the latter.
