Pitch@Palace Australia first took place in 2017. Since then, 17 Events have taken place supporting 108 Entrepreneurs from across 5 States in Australia. Pitch@Palace Australia is focussed at highlighting the many brilliant Entrepreneurs that exist in Australia.
Over the last two years Pitch@Palace has travelled across New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland, discovering the impressive scale of innovation and entrepreneurial activity across Australia. Not only successful on a national scale, the Pitch@Palace Australia Entrepreneurs have been hugely successful within the Pitch@Palace Global platform.
The winner of Pitch@Palace Australia 1.0, which took place in Sydney in 2017, was NevHouse, a Queensland company that creates pre-fabricated homes, classrooms, medical clinics and other community structures from recycled plastics. At Pitch@Palace Global 2.0 at St James’s Palace in December 2017, NevHouse was named as the Pitch@Palace Global Entrepreneur of the year.
“For NevHouse, Pitch@Palace was a unique experience with real results that have helped to generate significant interest in our solution and in dealing at the highest level of the capital markets in Europe and the US.” – Nev Hyman
NevHouse has continued to go from strength-to-strength and its founder, Nev Hyman, remains an active part of the flourishing Pitch@Palace community. Nev now helps fellow Entrepreneurs make the most of the Pitch@Palace experience by offering his expertise as a speaker and Elevator at Pitch@Palace Events. A great example of the Pitch@Palace network in action.
In April 2018, as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London, a very special edition of Pitch@Palace took place. Pitch@Palace Commonwealth involved 41 Entrepreneurs from 36 countries across the Commonwealth.
It was Australian Entrepreneur, Control Bionics, who was named the winner of Pitch@Palace Commonwealth. Control Bionics has created the ‘NeuroNode’, the world’s first wearable, wireless, clinical-grade bionic system for controlling smartphones, computers and robotics with the electrical signals inside a muscle – even if it is disabled.
“This has been an amazing experience and The Duke of York has constructed an extraordinary machine for Entrepreneurs like us: whether you’re a start-up or a scale up, the competition is guaranteed to help you enormously. We’re just working out how to properly reap the benefits of the amazing Pitch@Palace network, but we know this is going to help us for decades!” – Peter Ford, Founder of Control Bionics
Pitch@Palace made its second visit to Australia in 2018 – a whistlestop tour of the country, with seven Events in twelve days! The winner of Pitch@Palace Australia 2.0, Perth based OncoRes Medical, was invited to Pitch at St James’s Palace for Pitch@Palace Global 3.0, where they were named as one of the three Pitch@Palace Global Entrepreneurs of the year.
OncoRes Medical, founded by Dr Katherine Giles, is developing an imaging tool that improves the outcome of breast cancer surgery. Dr Giles credits the communications skills that she learnt as part of Pitch@Palace as playing an important part of growing her business:
“Whether you’re talking to investors, or the media, or a room full of strangers, the Pitch@Palace journey has been a valuable learning experience in techniques to build instant rapport with people, which is driven largely by telling the human story of your product or service”. – Dr Katherine Giles
Since taking part in Pitch@Palace, OncoRes Medical has raised $3 million from the Cooperative Research Centres Projects Grant and is moving into the product development phase for its technology.
These are just three outstanding examples of Pitch@Palace Australia Entrepreneurs. Every one of the 108 Australian Entrepreneurs who have been part of Pitch@Palace Australia are winners. All our Entrepreneurs continue to receive support after their Event and automatically become part of the Pitch@Palace family. This thriving global network of 973 Alumni from 62 countries, enables Entrepreneurs to access a diverse range of Mentors, Advisers, Distribution Systems and Supply Chains, Connections and Investment. These businesses have generated more than £1.1 Billion in economic activity and created more than 6,000 jobs.
